Bonus Day
The school teachers were on strike yesterday, wanting higher wages, which meant a day off for us... yeehah!
In between sun and showers we managed to fit quite a bit in..
Creating birthday cards for a well loved Uncle
Planting our seeds in grandad's shed..
And attempting to remain calm (me) whilst three children join forces to make a 'Thursday cake'. Usually we have a 'Happy Friday cake' every Friday (if I can find the time to make it), but as we were home I thought I'd save time for tomorrow and let them make their own cake today.
I managed to remain relatively calm ...
And the end result was gorgeous..
All those years of wiping splattered cake mixture from hair and walls has paid off !!
I'm off now to finish my new set of bunnies who I am hoping to introduce to you early next week..oh and sort out a giveway for next week. I missed my one year blog birthday, sometime in January :0 but I thought I would celebrate it anyway with a grand ol' giveaway.... stay tuned.
Have a great weekend everyone x

I have tried for years to make a cake that good!! You must be a great teacher.. in fact I always feel a sense of real family unity when I read your blog Nicky.. You are so good with your children.. making things with them, teaching them new skills..
I would love to turn the clock back and do more with my son.. sigh!

I admire any mother who is willing to let her kids make cakes and messes in her kitchen. Their cake looks yummy.

Looks like you had a wonderful kids day off! That cake looks sooo yummy, it reflects the hard work, and especially the love that went into it. You're a good mama. x

Wow you managed to fit a lot in on your day off. I hardly did anything with Ellie! Bad mother I am, although she had been given quite a lot of work from the teachers to do on the day off (ya boo!)
How do you manage to stay calm when baking a cake with kids. I have yet to do it. I always want to take over 'no do it like this!!'

Hi Nicola, Can't believe how much catching up I had to do there. As usual your photos are beautiful, and you put me to shame with your motherly patience. Cakes every Friday!!!!!!! Bonus points! I think things are slowly beginning to get back to normal at ours as the lambing is very nearly over. Hope to update my own blog soon. Take care,
