I generally avoid temptation, unless I can't resist it
Mae West's words, not mine - but oh how they ring true. I'm meant to be tightening the purse strings at the moment, as in the words of Mr F 'I have spent rather a lot on things I don't need' just lately :o and my justifications for my beautiful purchases have fallen on deaf ears of late.
However, I managed to sneak these two items into the house relatively unnoticed ;), and as they only cost £1 each I didn't feel too bad about it! The rose fabric pictured above is actually a small thinish eiderdown, perfect for either of the girls to put on their beds or to play on, so it just couldn't not come home with me.
And this cute little jar with its little pink lid was just made for the weekend sweets (which cost a little more than a pound but had disappeared by the time Mr F got home so he was none the wiser :)
I've never been a great saver, money tends to burn a large hole in my pocket - and try as I might to be 'grown up' about it, I still need a lot of help and guidance, a strong arm to drag me away and usually someone to hide my purse before any kind of shopping excursion. The power to resist is usually just not strong enough, especially in the bountiful charity shops - I definitely need to work on my 'power to resist'. However, I'm not expecting any miracles on this front, and neither, I later explained to him, should Mr F.
Tomorrow I will be having a giveaway, in celebration of the anniversary of my first year of blogging (which I missed sometime in January!), so if you would like to win a little number I've whipped up, see you back here sometime on Wednesday.

Hi Nicky,
Its no fun going to a charity shop or car boot sale and walking away with nothing , is it? I'm glad that you give in to temptation - after all, its what girls do best! The jar is so cute and can be justified in its usefulness.
Congratulations on your blogs Birthday!
Have a great week,
Niki

I know just how you feel. I'm really rubbish at not spending. I'm having to be careful at the moment though just because of lack of space at home. Having moved all my flat into my boyfriends house we are literally tripping over things so I think I would be in trouble too if I bought something new! But I do think your purchases are totally justified. Really pretty and only £2 spent. Will be back on Wednesday for the anniversary giveaway!

love that jar, would love the sweeties too!I am rubbish at saving and resisting, what's life for if not to spend and enjoy, you can't take it with you, and anyway men don't usually notice anything new, so you can get away with loads more. Say things were a gift in the post, haha!x If I'm not back tomorrow, as i have a sieve head at the moment can i join in your blog anniversary? please? x

Great buys and what fab prices. That jar is gorgeous.
I am no good at saving either, but I think that it saving isn't as much fun as spending and who knows how long we are going to be around for?!

From a fellow spendthrift who's tried every method of not spending, from using cash only to leaving my switch card at home (no good, makes me hyperventilate with panic at the thought I may see something and NOT be able to buy it) I truly sympathise. LOVE the eiderdown and the sweetie jar, essential purchases I think.

Definitely worth £2 and a potential row! I'm exactly the same - I am hopeless at saving up, but as my Grandma always says "You can't take it with you!".

Saving - what's that? I think it must be a woman thing - can't resist a charity or boot sale trip and there's always something tempting as I admitted on my blog last week much to the raising eyebrow look from my Mr S!!!! Wonderful finds, Happy Birthday!

Love the rose patterned eiderdown - really pretty. Funnily enough it is my one year blog anniversary tomorrow too, and I'll also be having a giveaway.
