The satisfaction of completion

Dsc_4211

Last weekend I did get some time to myself to start making some cushion covers that I had been desperate to do for a while.

Dsc_4210

These are the first three, all made out of thrifted materials.  For the the back I used an old vintage pink and white striped sheet, which took me a while to actually able to cut, but once started I was off.  It was a double sheet, and we don't have a double bed in the house, so I managed to persuade myself.  The top covers are made out of curtain materials and a table cloth!  Its a rather eclectic mix, but it makes me smile to see these beautiful materials in use :)

And instead of buttons or a zip I used ties at the back which was a much easier and quicker solution!  I still have another 2 or 3 I want to make in mind, but these will have to wait.

I am taking a few days off the blog next week as I am taking the children to visit their family in London and Kent so, Mr F will be left to hold the fort at home.

Have a great weekend, and I shall be back sometime next week xx

Have a lovely time away. We'll miss you. I don't envy you London though. It always seems a little to frantic. I grew up in Somerset so I can appreciate your love of where you live. I miss it even more being away from it for so long but Northern Ireland has it's own rewards.

Your fresh new cushions look great - it's always hard to make that first cut in fabric that is beautiful!!

Your cushions are beautiful, really pretty, bright and fresh. You have inspired me to go at a gingham duvet cover I have lying around, with a pair of scissors.

Have a lovely time in London.

these are fun. i once made a 'Millie Molly Mandy' dress for my daughter's world book day costume from the same colour pink candy stripe sheet. Hope your holidays are good.

They are really beautiful ... I much prefer the ties to zips.

How pretty! I love your blog.

We are hoping to build a summer house type thing this summer in the garden and I have a stash of vintage tablecloths, sheets and pillowcases just waiting to be made into cushions for it.I hope they look as good as yours!

I think your cushions are wonderful.

I've got so many pieces bought to cut up but now can't(including a lilac stripey sheet that I'll never use on a bed!).. I think your cushions look great..love them! maybe I should be brave and get the scissors now you've inspired me!

Love the mixed fabrics! They look so comfy to read a book with. I also like the tie idea, it really adds a special touch to the cushions.

Oh they look absolutely lovely Nicky, so original and pretty. Love all your thrifting goodness in the post below too, you did really well. Enjoy your few days away, you'll be missed. Jackie Mx

What gorgeous cushions, so lovely and fresh and I love the backing , worth cutting into!!

Oh, you make me want to do some sewing. Really eclectic and interesting mix of fabrics. I love stripes with floral! Good to catch up again. I was MIA for a while!

Really lovely, I like the ties, sometimes I think I prefer ties to buttons and zips!
you are very talented and your bed looks gorgeous!
