I think I might have mentioned before (more than once :0) how I adore Totnes, especially on Friday - market day.
Last Friday the weather was glorious so we downed tools and headed straight there. Its such a quirky little town full of gorgeous shops and friendly people.
Street musicians...
and people who have a love of the old, as well as the newish and slighty quirky. Totnes has its own currency, which can be used legally in its own shops, you don't have to but it how lovely is that? It is known for its crystals and spiritual side, yoga centres and tarot shops which I love, as well as its support of all things creative.
And then there's the Friday market... indoor and outdoor flea markets as well as fresh produce
and second hand clothes at bargain prices
It also has a beautiful church, where now and again you see a gorgeous wedding taking place.
All this, and then there's the guaranteed vintage haul that you just have to return home with.
To be quite honest, it can all get a bit too much for a girl... and she then has to sit down quitely with a hot cup of coffee and soak in the goodness for a while.
And I'm not even going to mention the outdoor Christmas fair that lines the street in the festive season because its too good ... well not yet anyway!
Looking at these pictures makes me feel much brighter after having spent the week fighting off some ghastly viral thing that really wasn't welcome. No Totnes for me today... which is just as well as the bank account is still recovering from last Friday :)
Have a great weekend everyone x

How daft is this? I used to drive through Totnes regularly for work but I never stopped. How foolish I was!! Now we don't live nearby anymore (but close enough that I am definitely going to pay a visit sometime). What days are their Christmas markets on, is that just Fridays too? Thank you for posting - delightful!

Having visited Totnes again this summer, I agree it is fab! Lets hope all those little individual shops that make it so special can ride the storms of recession and keep it unique and such a fun place to visit.
Hope you feel better soon,
Niki

You always make me feel so homesick when you feature Totnes - but in a nice way as it is one of my favourite places in the whole wide world! x

OH! I love Totnes too! And I've never been there- I've just read your post - but i'd like to go - soon please - it sounds just wonderful! I cannot imagine in a million years writing like this about ANY of the three market towns close to me! How very annoying that is! t.x

I love Totnes too, though it's years since we were last able to go there. My grandmother Bow was born there and her family go back a long way in the area - Totnes, generations in Berry Pomeroy and before that Stoke Gabriel. It looks like Totnes has such a lot to offer and it's "my" sort of place.

Hello!
I've just spent a very pleasant 30 mins reading your blog!
Your home is so pretty, your kitchen is one of the nicest i've seen in ages!
I love your chairs...are they painted in CK gloss?
Also your rabbits and bears are very cute!

Lovely lovely photos - they transported me to another place today amidst a day of full-on report writing! And how I wish I lived near Totnes! Mind you, we would be the poorer for it I dare say. The temptations look just too great!
