No.... its not mine.. but I wish it was! It is a page out of a magazine which I have kept for ages... can't remember which magazine now, probably Country Living or Country Homes and Interiors.
We have recently had a new boiler fitted as our old 'Valiant' was nearly 25 years old, spluttering and coughing and not looking like it was going to make another winter. So we took a bullet and got a new one.
And as the old one was wrenched away (literally).. and the new one placed in a different spot in the kitchen.. the whole kitchen seems to have 'blown up' around the mess. A gaping hole where the old one was... with 1940s wallpaper behind it :), and a general sense of ... 'the whole kitchen needs redoing' has evolved around it.
Not one for grand plans due to a limited budget, I have been planning a how I would like my new kitchen to be. I would like shelves... definitely more shelves - so I can display lovely things in glass jars and I would like a a cupboard just like the one in the picture, which I intend to find at a market and paint up!
Our kitchen cupboard doors have definitely seen better days, and I like the idea of the curtains here and there in their place.
Oh... and I like this one too...
I love the display cupboard in this one, and the red, white and blue theme... that's my favourite too.
So these two pictures will be stuck to my 'not so nice' kitchen doors whilst I dream and save.
Dream and save....
And meanwhile the boat I mentioned in the previous post will have to wait ;)
He is a cheerful soul, always whistling and busying himself with one job or another. He likes to stay busy, but tires easily so needs a comfy place to rest. He loves catching butterflies and bees and keeping them in a jar, but as the winter nears his favourite insect friends are harder to find so he prefers to keep warm and cosy and play a good game of cards indoors :) He is quite the wanderer, so he keeps a bell around his neck to jingle should he get lost ;)
If you would like to offer Wilfred a home you can find him here on ebay, with more pictures to see!
It's already one of my favourites.. firstly because its one of our favourite places to go while we take a few days away and enjoy half term, and secondly... the boat.. one day I intend to own a boat just like that ....
Hope you are enjoying a half term break if you can :)
Audrey is quite the ditherer. She has a huge heart but very little common sense, and is terribly forgetful. Therefore she requires quite a lot of attention as otherwise things can go astray... including Audrey!
You can find her here and see some more pictures...
Some days, when everything is going wrong, I turn to Hilda.
Hilda is my Singer sewing machine... named after my nan as it was hers.
Somedays, my electric Singer annoys me... the tension goes wrong, the thread keeps snapping and .. oh I don't know it just doesn't feel right. Usually its when everything else around me is going wrong... you know those days.
So I turn to Hilda. I thread her up and I turn the handle and she chugs along contentedly. No tension troubles, no threads snapping. And the sound of the chugging takes me straight back to sitting at the table sewing with my mum.
And I feel a whole lot better.
So there you have it. Here's to my friend Hilda, and better days :)
