Its been a strange week.
After much deliberating, tripping up, getting entangled and trying desperately to do a big sort out but failing, I have decided that my current 'sewing room' will no longer accommodate me! Its infuriating. There is no more room to stash my stash, and the walls are closing in.
So I have 'persuaded' my ever obliging husband that the study is too big a room to accommodate just him and his laptop, far too much space is wasted which could be put to good use as my new 'studio'. He has somewhat begrudgingly agreed, so work is about to commence on the big swop. However, I find myself a little nervous with butterflies in my stomach at the prospect of moving my 'sewing emporium' downstairs. I was nicely tucked away upstairs in the box room, and now I feel that once moved downstairs Vintage Magpie will become more official, it must work as I am taking up an important room in the house. So I'm a little daunted and finding myself making up excuses as to why we can't get started.
I have started sorting through the carnage, and have decided to separate vintage from new.
These are just some of the wonderful things that belonged to my nan and came from her sewing box.
and vintage ribbons which are gorgeous colours..
Absolute treasures.
Then I found these wonderful jars at the reclaimation site last weekend, perfect for loads of things.
This bit of course is the easy bit.... oh yeah. Rooting about for 'completely necessary storage items'. I find no hesitation on that score.
But work has been slow and scuppered by having to move around the house to cut materials, iron etc, which would all be contained in the one room downstairs with the mother of all locks on the door!
So, this weekend I shall start. I shall pack away my fabrics ready to be transported, and slowing work my way downstairs. Wish me luck... its a job of large proportion!
Have a great weekend!
