HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL!
Hope you all had a wonderful and peaceful Christmas... our Christmas seemed to be over really quickly, but we had the big wedding to look forward to on New Years Eve so we had a fairly quiet Christmas. This year we had Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve, an experiment, but it worked out really well. The 'cooking Christmas dinner dread' always ruins my Christmas morning, as the fear kicks in fairly early, so I we decided to try it on Christmas Eve and have a buffet on Christmas Day. This resulted in two main effects... the first one being that Christmas Eve wasn't spent dashing around the shops on a last minute dash and grab (as is my usual trick) so it felt like Christmas lasted a bit longer, and two - my Christmas Dinner Dread didn't happen. It was far more relaxed in the Fraser household this year, so I think this routine is a keeper!!
We were all treated very well by The Big Man in the red suit, and are processing the thank you letters as we speak!
As a warm up in to the first blogging week of 2009, I shall be featuring photographic evidence of the 12 days after Christmas... and what we got up to... namely the big wedding of Mr F's brother James and his beautiful wife Karena, and the out and about relaxing and recouperating goings on after.
My, it's good to be back xxx
Oh, yes--we always do this: big dinner on Christmas Eve and just bits and pieces on Christmas day. Muuuuch better. I'm glad it worked for your family, too. Happy New Year!

That idea sounds really nice. Good to hear it from the perspective of someone who usually has it on Christmas day. Often you hear it from people who have always done it that way, and therefore I am less likely to sit up and take notice. I do think there would be complaints but it would take away that horrible anxiety on Christmas morning. I could just sit and put in batteries, and undo stupid packaging, without worrying!

That's actually more traditional than having the dinner on Christmas day. Somes like a great idea. We try to do things in Christmas eve to so that it's like a mini Christmas otherwise, as you say, the whole thing is over in a flash.
