Allow me the pleasure to introduce you to South Devon Steam Railway station, Buckfastleigh..... a truly magical place.
On Sunday Lauren was lucky enough to go on a Brownie trip by steam train....
It's a seven mile former Great Western Railway branch line, built in 1872, which runs along the stunning valley of the River Dart between Buckfastleigh and Totnes. These old steam trains are truly beautiful, and when you step inside it's like you are stepping back in time. There are compartment carriages with wooden doors and luggage racks above your head, and you can smell the burning coke from the engine as you chug along the tracks. We were lucky enough to be invited to an engagement party on this train last year, and we all had to dress in 1940's outfits. It was wonderful.... I am adament that I am having my 40th birthday party on this train in.... oh umm about 3 years time... if you fancy coming let me know - strictly 1940s dress only!
And on Sunday there was an extra treat in store as the Exmoor Rut Rally was starting off from the Station also.
Absolutely stunning vintage cars, Austin Healeys, MGs, and other vintage sports cars...and a very well dressed Station Master flying the Devon flag!
What I wouldn't give for a whisk around the countryside in one of those!
Have a great week xx
It looks like you had a wonderful weekend. I love your photos as always, Nicky.
I hope you have a great week too..

Ooo you cant beat vintage (classic!?) cars. My DH always drools over those modern one but I am always excited if I see a vintage one trundling along. Mind I am like that if a beetle drives past too. My favourite. And I dont even drive!
Love the photo's, I really would love to have a ride on a steam train, it must feel like stepping back in time.
Thanks for sharing such lovely pictures.

We lived in Alresford in the 80s, home to the Watercress Line - but I never went on the train, as I remembered steam train travel from early childhood as being dirty and smelly (I'm not that old, it's just we still had steam trains in Scotland long after England had changed to diesel and electric!!)
