The Vintage Magpie

A guest in the garden ...

This little guy caused quite a stir when we found him in the garden yesterday.

He stayed for a while, we all introduced ourselves and he even came into the house to be shown around for a while :o

Come the afternoon, we decided it might be best to put him somewhere safer, free from admiring cats and dogs... so we took down to the local woods and let him go...

It was a great encounter while it lasted!

The Joanna...

Just look what arrived in our house on Friday!!

We were very lucky as friends of ours were giving it away... we just needed to sort out delivery.  I was very nervous of it being able to get in the room in was destined for, but with a bit of luck more than judgement in she went.

I am hoping that this will make the DS seem very dull indeed....

What do you think of my chances???

This week I shall be feverishly sewing away making some more little guys to come with me to The Vintage Bazaar in Frome on Saturday 30th October... can't wait

Leaving the nest ....

 
I've been busy working on these guys this week ...

who are heading off to pastures new to be part of an exciting event ..

at Kingswear Bears in Dartmouth this Sunday....

It's a special signing event which will be attended by Charlie and Will of Charlie Bears, so it should be a good day.

 
some are happier to be going than others...

but I think they are glad to be all leaving together ... it's a big world out there!!!

Scrapbooking

When I was lucky enough to visit the Nostalgic Mix fair in Totnes, I treated myself to a bag of gorgeousness from the very talented Christine at The Sea Garden... she had put together packs of vintage pictures and papers for use in scrapbooking and they were utterly gorgeous... want to see them close up?

a page full of vintage rose cards.... so beautiful... I have an idea for these already....

a genuine handwritten receipt from 1883

copies of envelopes, writing and roses....

a page of line drawn flowers....

a scrapbooking page from a vintage scrapbook...

an a page from a very old book about Cornwall where the 's' is still an 'f' ... fantastic!

So, I have a great many ideas for all of this lovelyness and once I am feeling a little less feeble (have been struck down with a chest infection :(  ) I will make and post...!

keEp mE saFe ...

This little guy is looking for a nice little place to call his own where he can nestle in and feel safe ...

He is quite a character... full of beans and a little mischievious... but then that's the way we want our boys isn't it?!

and he does like admiring himself in the mirror !  Quite dapper for one so worn!

This little bear is another of my mini bears... he stands 6 inches tall from the tip of his head to his toes, and although he can stand a little his is quite wobbly on his pins!

He is made of 100% German mohair, filled with steel shot for weight and stuffed with woodwool and polyfibre cotton for definition and cuddle-ability.

He has been hand marked and distressed by me to give him his loveable time worn appearance.

HE IS A COLLECTORS ITEM AND IS NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN UNDER 14.

His adoption fee is £85.00 plus his travel fare to his new home.

Ok... I admit it....

.... I've started making some Christmas presents.... 

Mind you, I tend to do this... start off with all good intentions and then as the Day looms I drift off into panic mode again.

Well... it's a start at least :)  Anyone else gonna own up???

Stepping Out...

The sun has been doing a wonderful job down here in the West Country the last couple of days... its been glorious... and I have dusted down my favourite shoes for the day..  nothing like a good pair of shoes to put a spring in your step!

Romantic Blooms

 

On Saturday I was lucky enough to visit the Nostalgic Mix fair in Totnes.

But I forgot my camera :(

It was full of gorgeous stalls with beautiful things for sale, and I made a few purchases... which I shall photograph and post about.

And I managed to pick up a beautiful bunch of hyacinths, one of my favourites, for £2... which made me a very happy girl indeed.

LiTtLE pINk BeAr ...

Firstly, we need to apologise for being a little late this morning...

I think nerves got the better of us :o

However, with a little coaxing this little bear is very excited about going to a new home...

She has promised to be brave.

So..... without further ado she is my first little bear up for adoption :)

She is made from hand-dyed vintage viscose and filled with woodwool for shape and steel shot and pellets for weight and texture.  She stands a hair over 6 inches tall, but is a little uncertain when standing so prefers something to lean on.  Her fur and ribbons have been hand coloured and distressed by me to give her a well loved appearance!

Her adoption fee is £85.00 plus travel fare.  She does not involve much up-keep.. she eats like a bird and sleeps whereever she is put .. perfect!
